Extras were on league duty this week, covering the third team’s Bedfordshire Level Six league match. Ampthill playing Dunstable at three levels needed to win two games out of three to win the inaugural competition.
The Extras played with real passion in a very tightly contested match. Gavin Griffith was first to score for Ampthill, grounding the ball slightly short of the line luck was on Ampthill’s side when the try was awarded.
Seven points each at half time the Extras new they’d have their work cut out for them in the second half.
Converted tries from Dave Tomkins and Joe Keane in the second half put the match out of Dunstable’s reach.
Despite the Extras winning their game the Ampthill RFC were not to be the winners of the new competition. With the firsts and seconds both losing Dunstable were awarded the silverware.
