For the first time in over a season the Extras played their home game at Redbourne School. The sunshine brought the spectators out and the Extras found themselves playing in front of a season record crowd of seven people.

Ampthill performed well from the start and never really looked like they would be in much danger from this fixture.

The first try came for Brian Todd when a long ball passed out missed all of the young athletic talent in the back line and found Toddy who was still tying his shoelaces up from the previous scrum. A short run to the line and Toddy had scored. 5 – 0 Extras.

S & L were unable to get much possession, on the few occasions they did try to run at Ampthill they found the defence too strong to penetrate. Playing particularly well for the Extras was Gez who’s tackles ensured nothing got through from set pieces.

Some fine running in the backs saw braces bagged by Tom Reid and Ian Browning. There were further tries for Kevin Smith and Ian Burgess.

Gary ‘Trigger’ Bass, frustrated by Mel’s eviction from TV’s Big Brother was unable to cross the line to open his season’s try count despite coming close on a couple of occasions.
