Ampthill Extras 48 – Dunstable 4th XV 15

Pre match weather conditions where cold but sunny. Almost on cue when the referee, Paul Titchener, blew the whistle the snow came down in the faces of the Extras. Almost sleet-like the Extras struggled to run against the elements.

Matt Traono scored the first try for the Extras to give them the lead. Another try for Jason Massingham and Gavin Griffith gave the Extras a seventeen point to five lead.

To the relief of the thirteen players, two frozen subs and the referee the half time break saw the sun come out (along with nine spectators) and conditions dramatically improve.

The second half saw a massive improvement of form for the Extras, with three further tries for Gavin Griffith and a well deserved try for Ray ‘Rudolf’ Nix.

The Extras came out winners by forty-eight points to fifteen.

Special commendation goes to the lonely figure of Tony Pedersen, Mine Host,  who braved the elements to watch the Extras for all of five minutes as the snow came down in the first half.
