Northampton Old Scouts 3rd XV 42 - Ampthill Extras 19

Extras dib, dib, dobbed.

On a day that England were playing Australia at Twickenham in what turned out to be one of the most exciting internationals of modern times, the Extras chose to play Old Scouts in what turned out to be one of the most dire of spectacles of all time.

Ampthill Extras scored first after Paul New ran down the wing and chipped the ball for Sean Wood to chase, who in turn picked up and scored. From here on in it was a nightmare.

The extras won very little from set pieces, almost nothing from the scrums. Starved of possession the Ampthill backs could do little but watch their comrades in the forwards lose ball after ball to the Old Scouts.

The home side ran in the tries throughout the game. Never giving up Tom Gray pulled two tries back for the Extras to make the score a little more respectable but the late surge could not prevent the Extras heaviest defeat of the season so far.
