Ampthill Extras 70 – Milton Keynes 2nd XV 0

Roundabout Boys Hammered.

After beating Milton Keynes 3rd XV by seventy two points to nil, the Extras expected a much tougher challenge when they played host to the MK 2nd X.

The Extras dominated the game throughout. From Shaun Wood’s first try it was clear the Extras were going to be too strong for Milton Keynes.

There were ten tries in total for the Extras, the most notable being Shaun Wood’s second try. The move started from a ruck just ten metres from the Extras’ try line with Milton Keynes having a rare spell of possession. All of a sudden Tom Gray came through the ruck and started his charge up the paddock. Full back Wood in close support received a rare pass from Tom and ran no less than sixty metres to score a try.

There were braces of tries scored by Rob Campbell, Mark Mansfield and Shaun Wood. All three showed great generosity in their ball distribution once their braces were bagged.

Steve Marsden, Rob McInnes, Gareth Williams also got a try a piece and even the Tom Gray managed to get his slight frame over the try line to score.

Tom Read successfully kicked all ten conversions to make the score seventy points to nil.

Special mention must go to Brian Geary who made his first appearance of the season for the Extras.
