Leighton Buzzard 3^rd XV 17 - Ampthill Extras 38

Despite one of their poorest performances of the season, the Extras still pulled off a substantial win over Leighton Buzzard. 

From the first whistle the Extras struggled to string more than two accurate passes together in any one move and also ensured that no one would risk injury by putting themselves out in a tackle.  

Leighton’s first try came as a result of a knock on by an Ampthill player, the culprit just walked away expecting a scrum to ensue, allowing his opposite number to pick the ball up and run the ball in for a try. We would normally protect the identity of such misfortunate individuals, but as this person managed to make amends by scoring a good try of his’ own moments later, Tom Read shall be named. 

As is now expected in an Extras game Liam Duffin, (HOW DO YOU ALWAYS GET A MENTION?) did not score, instead on two occasions, upon reaching the line, he decided to lay the ball back to allow firstly Chris Denton and then Shaun Wood to score. 

Paul Saunders scored a brace but probably the best try of the game came for Gez Ingarfield who caught the ball from a re-start, ran through the Leighton forwards without them barely laying a hand him to score under the posts. 

The finest moment of the game was to see Terry Norford take to the field as a second half substitute. With the last bionic components being fitted to Brian Todd it could only be a matter of time before Brian Geary, Terry Norford and Brian Todd are all back in action at the same time for the Extras. 

Could there be a cameo appearance for the old fly half master Ratty as well?(HOPE NOT!!)
