Leighton Buzzard 3rd XV 0 - Ampthill Extras 36 

Buzzards plucked !

 The Extras were back in business when they beat a Leighton side that had already twice beaten the Ampthill 3rd XV. 

With a predominantly Extras pack and all bar Tom Read coming from the thirds in the backs, the team gelled well. 

Tom Gray scored five of the six tries but was denied a sixth when Rex Hedges refused to pass to the Extras’ number eight. Gareth Evans converted three of the tries to bring the teams’ tally to thirty six points. 

Defence was solid throughout and denied the Buzzards from scoring any points.   

A special mention must go to the sporting nature of Leighton’s number eight who despite losing, and calling the Ampthill pack ‘babies’, still managed to avoid the after match tunnel and any hand shakes offered by the visiting winners. According to those that have played against him before, is the norm win or lose. It’s good to see some real men can go out and enjoy themselves in such a manner.
