Extras lose out in tough encounter 

The pre match practice by the Ath made it look as if the Extras would have a tough task to win this home clash. 

The lead changed several times in the first half with Extras’ tries for Rob Hill, Liam Duffin and Tom Gray. 

The second half saw two crucial tries for the Ath that were both easily preventable. The first came when the referee awarded a penalty for ‘back chat to Ath just yards from the Extras’ try line. This gave them an unhindered run to the line to score. The second was a simple interception. 

Tom Gray clawed ten points back for Ampthill with two second-half tries. 

The difference in the teams’ scores was a mere two conversions, unfortunately the kicking accuracy belonged to the Ath on this day.
