Peterborough 12 Extras 19
Ampthill Extras took the
maximum points available in this return match against Peterborough and avenged
their defeat earlier in the season. First try came for John Kitchiner followed
by a try for his centre partner Steve Marsden. Shaun Wood converted one of the
tries to give the Extras a half time lead of twelve points to nil.
Peterborough fought back and in the second half levelled the score to twelve
points each. Kitch's second try broke the deadlock and with a Shaun Wood
conversion gave the Extras a seven point lead. The Extras defended superbly in
the dying minutes of the game to keep P'boro from equalising. With the referee
calling a line-out as the last play of the game it just took Ray Nix to run the
ball into touch to secure the win.
John 'Scouser' Roberts new lucky pants had worked their magic on the Extras
form.
