Olney 3s 17 - Ampthill Extras 21

With the bare bones of a backs line up the Extras pulled out a great win against Olney who were strengthened by cancellations of both their colts and 2nd team games. With no recognised centres and Dave Stewart and Jimmy Sneath (playing only his 3rd competitive game of rugby) stepped up to the mark to fill the midfield. The Extras started off well and were soon in the lead after Jimmy Sneath crossed the line for a try. Dougie Parks was on form with his boots to convert. The next try, one of the best by the Extras this season, saw some great support work from the attacking Ampthill team. Justin Cobley scored after earlier being involved in the build up. Injuries to Rob Hill & Dave Stewart resulted in Luke Wilson filling in at centre and Matt Goss (Olney sub) coming in at centre. Goss had no qualms about playing against his own club and scored a great try to give the Extras a three try lead. Dougie's success with his kicking had put the Ampthill team twenty one points up. An injury to 'Sqealing' Luke Wilson meant the Extras had to use a second Olney sub.

Half-time changes strengthened the Olney side but the Extras held on to win the game by just four points thanks to the successful conversions in the first half.
